Why Counselling
I would imagine that you are looking for a therapist because you want to change something in your life and feel that you need support to do this.
You might have known for some time that you need to do something about a behaviour, feeling or belief that has been with you and which is having a negative impact on your life.
You might feel that you know what you want to change but need support and encouragement to decide whether you are on the right track.
Alternatively something might have happened to you over which you have no control and which you feel that you do not have the resources to cope with.
The negative impact on your life could manifest itself in a loss of interest in your life, your relationships and your work.
This could result in you experiencing feelings of stress anxiety and depression. You could be experiencing a sense of isolation and panic.
You might have decided to try to cope with things on your own.
You may have tried other ways to cope, for example using alcohol which I talk about on the next page.
I believe that we all have the resources within us to change but sometimes things happen and we forget this or experiences happen which make us unsure about our own beliefs.
Counselling offers you the space to get back in touch with yourself. My role is to create a safe space for you to explore whatever you need to, to put you in a position you to be able to make the changes that you desire.
This can take as long as you feel that it needs to. It will be your decision how long we work together for.
I will not provide answers for you but will work with you so that you can find them yourself.
Don’t wait until matters completely overwhelm you before you consider counselling.
If you know that you have something to deal with then perhaps you could start now.
The process will be completely under your control.
I will provide the safe, understanding and supportive environment you need to enable you to move forward with your life.
